Tonight's drink: red bull whisky

After several days this week where we had blackouts for 8, 12, more hours, there was finally a demonstration at the government-owned power company.

I went to see how the demonstration was organized out of curiosity. (Previously I have attended OccupyICE, CHAD, #BLM etc).

They were still assembling at 23:00. I scoped out the crowd. Almost all high schoolers or middle school age, wearing their street clothes, parked motorbikes half a block away. No one wearing masks. I asked the kids casually "So I heard there's a party here tonight?" and they laughed. One kid was really eager to show me that he had a bag full of fireworks. He pulled out fireworks one by one and kept pointing at the building which was surrounded by a perimeter of police, and there were pretty easily police inside the building, probably videotaping everything (you recognize the signs with age and wisdom).

Noped away from the front lines pretty quick and watched the rest of it on a livestream. The kids lit off some fireworks and lit a tire on fire in the middle of the road. They yelled and ran up and down the street until they got tired and went home.

I would rate the demo 3/10. Very boring, very poorly organized, bad optics, awful opsec.

Even useless protests are still good opportunities to learn how to play with the media and work as an organized body, but these kids weren't even doing that. What kinds of headlines are you planning to win by showing up at a building with fireworks in the middle of the night? How are you going to win the sympathies of housewives and office workers, even politicians and business leaders? Sigh.

I'm drinking some canned kvass imported from Belarus. I like it, wish I had more than a few cans so I didn't have to savor each sip and could be more of a glutton.

A lot of kids probably think they're cool for how little attention they show to being discreet when doing things like this. At least that's the conclusion I draw from the lack of effort they put into it, but it's not like anything destructive happens most of the time. A picket sign protest is actually more effective and doesn't alienate others from whatever cause your taking up protest for.

Whisky and redbull for me. It's a nice mix.

Why not make kvass, it's pretty easy! Importing drinks must cost a bundle cuz liquid is heavy...

I have before, it's something I might do again but I like the real stuff made by the professionals. It is pretty expensive though, about $1.50 a can...

It's against the law to operate having wings while intoxicated you know?

I'm drinking Knights cider, which is like the UK's Strong Zero. 8.4% ABV swill that probably tastes the same coming out as it does going in, and people look at you with equal parts pity and contempt if they catch you drinking it. But I'm drinking alone while I post on textboards, so the only looks of pity and contempt I get are from my own reflection in the mirror when I get up to take a banging piss.

Bottoms up, lads. (As they probably say in the Navy.)

Not drinking now, but I like to have bready malt beers by my side. Just one of the components of a relaxing evening.

It wasn't specified what we're actually drinking, so sure. Some of use like to practice temperance, so I'll sip some common earl grey with you.

I haven't had coffee in a while, thinking of getting a new coffee maker since I don't like to purchase coffees from coffee shops.
