Favorite Videogames? (59)

What are your guy's favorite videogames? Personally I lean towards strategy games, like Command and Conquer and Advance Wars, and though I don't like VNs that much, Ace Attorney is up there too.

honestly, I got back into rhythm games because I noticed my reaction time getting worse and I wanted to fight back

...technically, it hasn't really gotten much better, but I don't feel like a slow old man when I can play IIDX and DDR and shit, even if a lot of my skill is entirely me knowing the song and having at least some of the chart memorized, even if I didn't actively sit down and memorize it

if I wake up at 4am, I will have been asleep for 2 hours... -_-

Blacksouls 2
I'm going to Alice!

12 Name: Nameless : 2025/04/25 18:20

I would like to play Blacksouls 2, how long is it?

>>10
Perhaps you need to get one of the giant piano keyboards that you have to hop from each key to another. Once you get to where you can play a full symphony then DDR won't be hard at all.

13 Name: Nameless : 2025/04/25 19:42

i fucking love shmups

14 Name: Nameless : 2025/04/25 23:39

I do not play that many video games these days. I used to really like COD zombies though.

I played Black Souls 2. Took me about 10 hours to get thru just one playthrough. Have not played the first one, so I'm missing some context on story bits.

I would love to go to a mega-arcade with all the different STGs to play. I've never seen a one myself( ´,_ゝ`). Has anyone else had the experience?
>>15
I'll be sure to play the first one first. It looks a bit like a scary game.

17 Name: Nameless : 2025/04/26 04:54

My fav vidya ever is, in no particular order, Super Mario 3D World, Super Mario Galaxy, Counter-Strike, and Bioshock.
I like a lot of different games. My #1 favorite depends on the day of the week.

Killer7 on GameCube

19 Name: Nameless : 2025/04/26 05:50

i've seen flash games that try to mimic the style of killer7 but i have never actually played it.

You gotta play it man. They released a remastered version on PC you can play on Steam i think too

21 Name: Nameless : 2025/04/26 06:10

I guess I'll pirate it in any case. Usually I like to play remastered versions of games second

22 Name: Nameless : 2025/04/26 07:56

My favorite game is Super Mario Bros. 3, it's really the perfect platformer game.

i agree, this game in an absolute gemu

24 Name: Nameless : 2025/04/27 00:31

I don't think I like one game by nintendo. I guess I'm a SEGA MAN

I'm personally an early SEGA person, but there's plenty of Nintendo games I like

26 Name: Nameless : 2025/04/27 08:41

I like SEGA genesis and... some of the saturn. There are a lot of good games made for them.

27 Name: Nameless : 2025/04/29 19:21

thief, a.k.a. the best stealth game on the planet

28 Name: Nameless : 2025/04/29 20:46

gta vice city. i like san andreas but i like vc's aesthetics more, it's a comfort game for me

29 Name: Nameless : 2025/05/01 15:21

I'm with >>28 lol, VC has been my most played GTA by a mile for that reason.

32 Name: Nameless : 2025/05/20 01:54

I think Undertale is a good game, the musical composure is well above par.

33 Name: Nameless : 2025/05/20 03:13

let's list some good shit
* SPACE HARRIER
if you have a flight stick, fire it up in MAME, otherwise, play the Saturn or 32X version depending on which is easier to emulate for digital control, using the original self-centering analog controls on a normal controller sucks ass
I still refuse to believe this game is from 1985, it genuinely looks like 6 years ahead of everything else
some bits are designed as a pure "fuck you memorize this" but it isn't really a memorizer, those bits are just a little bullshit (the boss with the orbiting stone heads is some shit if you don't know you're supposed to blow the heads up before the core so you don't get hit by them expanding outward)

* MARS MATRIX
go fucking play Mars Matrix, I love this game
crazy bullet hell with a bullet reflect/absorb mechanic and one button shooting controls
the DC version has a fixed scoring counter if you're good (you can counterstop the arcade version) and lets you use more than just the one button to shoot/do shit
otherwise, again, MAME
late game looks like bullshit but you really should be using clever bullet reflects
make sure you go crazy on chaining loads of gold cubes to upgrade your ship too
the scoring counter is hilarious

* TOTAL CARNAGE
once more, MAME is your friend
kick ass dual-stick shooter that's effectively Smash TV 2
has a bomb mechanic that makes a lot of things much less bullshit than Smash TV, but the game is overall more intense to compensate
honestly should be as well known as Smash TV is, it's fucking fantastic

* RAYFORCE
just some good-ass shooting
feels more advanced than 1993, but not that much more, it could have released as-is in 1996 or so and still been impressive
dive into the corrupted cyber-earth and blow up the evil CON-HUMAN supercomputer that killed most of mankind
very cinematic presentation, but it's still all action, (almost) no filler
once more, MAME lol
if you've got a Saturn, it came out under the name Galactic Attack in the US

* ARMORED CORE
I've spent the vast majority of my time with the series playing the PS1 games lol
I really should buy AC6
the PS1 series emulates pretty well in duckstation
controls are all digital, you might want to remap the analog sticks just for this game (it doesn't support them natively, but it's easy in duckstation), but my control setup is
I absolutely love how the game immediately sets the tone with missions like "ELIMINATE THE SQUATTERS" and "ELIMINATE THE STRIKERS" (like, you're breaking up a strike with a fucking AC lmao)

* SONIC 3 AND KNUCKLES
honestly, download Sonic 3 Complete (and re-enable the S&K music in the settings), it's just better
this is where Sonic as a franchise peaked (Sonic Mania is good, but I always end up coming back here, and then to Sonic 2, and it has been a while since I've felt like playing Mania)
don't fight the flow, rolling around is your friend and the game almost universally stops you before something bad is gonna happen
marble garden sucks though with a bunch of off-screen spikes, and carnival night act 2 is fucking bullshit (it's actually not supposed to be a long level... except it will almost certainly take you like 9 minutes first try and it sometimes still takes me more than 5); if you're stuck in an area with a bouncing barrel, don't jump; press up and down rhythmically to get past it lol
sandopolis act 2 is a bit long and frustrating on a first playthrough and it might take you like 8 minutes
those are all the bad parts of the game, the rest is gold
cool tunes, great sense of speed, lots of actual platforming unlike sonic 2, more fun platforming than sonic 1

go fucking play some good shit

34 Name: Nameless : 2025/05/20 03:23

I like rayforce and mars martrix, you ever play metal slug?
I also recommend nemesis 90 if you know how to get it to play, the graphic is amzaing

35 Name: Nameless : 2025/05/20 03:56

even though I like the Metal Slug games, I've spent way less time with them than I should
never been a Gradius fan personally too (always ended up playing more R-Type and Darius)
the one Konami horizontal game I like a bunch is Xexex and that's because it plays so much like R-Type lol

36 Name: Nameless : 2025/05/20 04:31

I love R-type because I love abysmal scenes that are awe inspiring but then some of the game just feels off, I also always prefer horizontal games. Any scene/graphic you yourself find great?

37 Name: Nameless : 2025/05/20 04:56

>>36
the big battleship stage in r-type 1 is just unreasonably cool
the whole game has a lot of cool set pieces, even if it's also just a full-on memorizer
the second boss with all the weird pussy holes (yes, this description is nasty, but look at it lmao) is pretty great

r-type 2 is kind of obnoxiously hard
I can't say much about that game since I barely got anywhere with it

r-type 3's first stage is very impressive and there's too much to mention there alone (the big rotating hexagon tubes in the background were very impressive the first time I saw them) but it's maybe a little too padded out compared to the entire rest of the game and I know I've died more than once because I wasn't paying enough attention since there is a lot of dead space
the bit where you're going backwards a few stages in is really cool but I'm not good at the game

pretty much all of r-type delta is impressive, I can't pinpoint a single moment, that game is kick-ass all around

never liked r-type final, I genuinely got bored playing that game, haven't played final 2 or 3

38 Name: Nameless : 2025/05/20 05:42

I've only ever played the first one, but never actually beat it. I'd like to give 2 and 3 a shot. final just looks unappealing with the 3d graphics.

This talk about scroll stgs made me remember a cool 2ch flash:

How about Thief 2?

43 Name: Nameless : 2025/05/22 00:29

(pirating thief 2, dual thieving?)

I don't know if anyone likes Yu-Gi-Oh!(as a game), but I like to play yu-gi-oh power of chaos: kaiba the revenge(2004). His lines are so funny: "Ha, SO, you're activating a Spell card?"(Every fucking time you play a spell card mind you), and "Hahaha! A pathetic dog like you never had a chance against a champion like me!" are among my favorite.
I will say that the game is made pretty boring as you start out with shitty cards and you have to work your way up to better ones, winning a new card for every victory. I've seen several ways to unlock all the cards through a hack but I haven't tried them yet as some of them use weird clients.

nearly perfect, if only lgs didnt go bankrupt...

49 Name: Nameless : 2025/06/03 00:07

>>48
If LGS didn't go bankrupt in the early 2000s, how likely would they have gone to making not only a full-fledged Thief 3, but also 1 to 2 different IPs, and an alternate build of SS3?

50 Name: Nameless : 2025/06/03 07:19

Does anyone play Yu-Gi-Oh! against other people online?

51 Name: Nameless : 2025/06/05 22:00

>>50
I do sometimes.

52 Name: Nameless : 2025/06/05 22:29

But are you any good? Are you even worthy of being called a duelist?

53 Name: Nameless : 2025/06/06 05:33

>>49
thief was rather successful iirc, i dont see why they wouldn't have made a 3rd game, they would have made a few new IPs at SOME point and what ss3 are you talking about?

54 Name: Nameless : 2025/06/06 14:01

>>53
SS3: System Shock 3

55 Name: Nameless : 2025/06/06 22:46

>>54
i figured as much, but you mentioned an "alternative" build, that makes it sound like they did release ss3
i dont know if they'd make a sequel to that, i read the game didn't sell that well (i actually expected it to outsell thief ('ー')), i wonder if any potential sequel would still use the dark engine though

56 Name: Nameless : 2025/06/07 01:26

most likely th8, most beautiful game I've ever played.

57 Name: Nameless : 2025/06/07 01:32

It is very pretty, while I do enjoy the graphics of the PC-98 touhou, I really like th8

58 Name: Nameless : 2025/06/07 02:44

>>57
I never got much into PC-98 touhou to be honest. I like how they look, but the gameplay just doesn't do it for me.

59 Name: Nameless : 2025/06/07 03:51

You must also take into account the music. The soundboard adds a unique taste.
