Since there's a dedicated browser in the works, why not make a dedicated OS too? Think about it.

I thought about it, and it still sounds dumb.

It should be its own unique thing and not another Linux distro or BSD. We should design a whole new kernel. How about some kind of multiserver microkernel based on Mach kernel?

It would take 20 years for us to manufacture a whole new kernel if it takes us several months to make a dedicated browser.

Speaking of that, the browser is finished, the only thing I have to do is find a way to simplify posting sjis art. But the easiest way to do that is to create a web page on my own server that I include in the list of boards.
The best thing would be to have a dedicated board that we can use to save our original AA art.

And also, I made the browser in 3 or 4 days. It's just that I didn't share it yet.

I wanted to wait for suggestions on what to add, but I didn't get many. So for me, it's finished.
I could make a tab system, but it would be pointless since the site doesn't get much traffic.

If you could make a dedicated browser in days then a whole new OS is easily doable within a year.

I don't know, as I said on the imageboard thread, it's not really a true dedicated browser that works like Janexeno.
It simply displays web pages in a WinForms with a few features.
I did it that way because I just wanted to have fun trying to make one

Just making a kernel is infinitely more complex, so I don't recommend judging the feasibility of this project by comparing it to my crappy browser.

WE CAN DO IT! It doesn't have to be good. As long as we have fun!

10 Name: Nameless : 2025/09/18 08:18

It does have to be good, if I'm going to use it needs to be a QUALITY product.

Of course we can do it, but I think we should start with smaller projects that are more accessible to site users.

For example, I thought we could all work together to make a new board script.
The goal would be to make it an evolution of 2channel. With practical features or even try to improve it, as Amezou did for Ayashii World (even if there isn't much to improve, it could be an interesting challenge).

Finally, a real use case for GNU Hurd is found.

That's more realistic. I guess we could start with fixing the issues with kareha?

It's a good idea to do before making one from scratch.

15 Name: Nameless : 2025/09/21 00:15

What happened to that BBS script written entirely in scheme?

If it's a web browser wrapper, it is junk.

I know it's crap, but I had time to waste that day.

19 Name: Nameless : 2025/09/26 22:57

Maybe it would be better to write an uploader so we don't have to give credit to gayuri

20 Name: Nameless : 2025/09/27 08:53

We don't do that anyway

21 Name: Nameless : 2025/09/28 10:59

it would be nice if the uploader worked properly lol, it breaks over https
