world2ch didn't exist in the 90s nor would information about it be in Japanese, but are you perhaps referring to the original 2ch?
I am interested as well, does anyone have any links to archives?

oh, im really sorry, i found info here because the owner was japanese but it attracted mainly westerners after some time, im stupid. i was indeed referring to the original 2ch
im really curious about the history of japanese text and image boards, but its very hard to search about them when your japanese is broken

Each board of 2ch would require it's own fully detailed history, each longer than the entirety of other BBSes

>>4 i have some japanese friends but none of them used 2ch unfortunately

n apparently this was based on the amzeou source code in its early days, here is the source code to that, if you can even put it up of course

n http://www.mikawaban.com/etc/amebbs01.html this is proof they do look pretty similar. this could look extremely similar with some styling and html.

For what it's worth, here's a lot of 2ch threads:

I still need to find the futaba channel 9/11 thread, i had it on my old computer, not shocking since i downloaded it as an html not wayback, so it's probably lost now
