College and University [Academics] (11)

I've seen on several threads on this fine establishment of users claiming what college they are currently attending.
Somebody here got accepted to Oxford, which has probably got us all beat in terms of rigor bragging.

So, what university did you attend/are currently attending? Did you have a good time?

I went to O(klahoma)SU for graduate school. Was it fun? It was very bland time as only a couple of people were interested in
the things I was, but I did learn a lot of stuff I needed and things for hobbies.

I went to university. Ain't saying which one. I got out right as COVID started, so that was fucking balls.
Wasn't worth the time, effort, or money and trying to get a non-dead-end job has been pure suffering, even after places allegedly started hiring again.

My friends there were totally into the shit I like though, and I had fun in that regard. All of my current friends are people I met there.

Don't expect any replies from MIT grads, they couldn't read the thread.

I went to the best school in my state for teaching. I will never be a teacher but at least it’s close to home.

In theory, the internet should allow us to get rid of these elitist universities and make knowledge more open and available but this hasn't happened.

It has happened, we have all the knowledge on our fingertips now. But we also have a lot more noise and distraction now.

Even with scihub, a lot of information is locked away. And the educational system values professional certification over competence. The internet is just a giant porno box. The guys who invented PCs and the internet were influenced by the idea of peer to peer learning networks and community developed tools replacing the education system, but what we ended up with is a gigantic porn dispenser.
