So much for "free speech"

Personally I can't stand either heyuri, hikari3, mootxico, kissu, you name it. All the same forced trash in the end. I came here hoping it would be different somehow.
In response to ex-post no.>>10, we will not entertain the notion that a site like that is worthy of presence here as to do so would degrade ourselves to a cesspool.
why tf u quote a non-existent post what's the purpose of it anyway LOL
They know who they are
Why would you fap to this website
Genuinely
I mean an area where their email appears so I can talk to them and send them a proposal.
Just post your proposal here, the admin responds to posts on meta all the time
hello guya im on world2ch.net because it is back and im going to backing pudi pie

Your Emperor speaking. I don't really use my email for this whole "governing the commonwealth" thing. I can contact you on an IRC channel of your choosing or some other method you propose if possible.
I wanted to try a few out. Any particular one you find ugly?
I liked the photo that was used as the background on the front page. The repeated teal さいたま that replaced it is a bit ugly.
also, the background to top.html isn't great either
Really? The top background is the only one that looks fitting, at least in my eyes.
Assuming you're referring to the ocean on the entrance page, I do like it better, but I feel like there is a better option I have yet to find.
the text on the image is a bit off because of the different coloured background
There is now a new stylistic choice for oekaki
I'm currently interested in the current software used by the server and the sources for this software.
While the server stuff, like PHP, Perl version and what not would be nice, I'm particularly interested in the kareha.pl and futaba versions.
(I would like to develop RSS feeds for world2ch)
What do RSS feeds even do?
Really Simple Syndication. Basically, a means to create a "subscription" service so that you can easily keep up to date on something that frequently updates while you're busy or otherwise not on the site.
For example, with world2ch, RSS feeds could display new threads for a given board, or new posts on a given thread, alerting someone who is currently not using the site that there are new threads or posts available to look at and respond to.
It used to be everywhere(4chan and Reddit both had them at one point,) but the internet has long since ditched them for some reason. Here is the specification. https://www.rssboard.org/rss-specification
I thought there was more to it than that. If that's all, would it really serve a purpose? Seems like people could just look at the index of the lounge in under 10 seconds.
world2ch is a very slow website, so I can see what you're saying. However, while I CAN do that, I'd also like to get a notification when there is a new thread so that I can respond to it and make the website feel more lively, compared to my usual 3-5 business days of response time.
It also just gives me something to look forward to when I'm on my phone and away from home. https://world2ch.net/mobile.php does not really do anything and this site has one of the very few desktop UIs that is actually somewhat clunky on a mobile device.
Honestly, you saying that has made me realize that people probably thought a notification system was completely redundant, only to turn around and implement their own damn notification system anyways when they realized they needed one.

The textboard software is a modified version of kareha, made to function and appear closer to 2ch's software, only without all the ads and cluttered features. I think working with kareha 3.1.1 will work, as I don't think I messed with kareha.pl at all, unless it was with the captcha function.
Thanks man. I'll see about doing it as soon as I'm out of my rut.
You should put ads on this site to get funding.
If anyone posts a thread here wanting to advertise, I'll try to do it depending on the contents
?
Assuming it comes to fruition, it would just be a modified version of a 2ch dedicated browser to fit this software or another software used in the future.
I have made a thread in UNIX about making one.
Like netscape navigator but actually functional
Netscape is functional... for websites designed in the 90s
Look at janexeno if you don't know what a dedicated browser is
I'll be damned, I must have missed in in the config.
It may have been a bit much, but I was making a rss script for the rss to receive the posts in the thread, instead of just the thread. I feel like I've seen that before on some sites.
I've seen it too, and in fact that was actually the other half of what /I/ was going to do.
UNFORTUNATELY I discovered that Kareha's "database" is the HTML page it generates, which makes such an implementation very difficult without further research onto how it makes and maintains this database.
I'm half considering rewriting Kareha(again, for the like 5th time I've offered this,) just so that it can use a more traditional flat database format.
Eh, forget about rewrites for the moment. I'll attempt my best to wrap my head around how Kareha maintains these files and attempt an elegant solution. I think I have a good idea, but it will take me a bit. I don't actually know Perl in any reasonable capacity.
If you do rewrite it, I think sql would be a bad idea so we should avoid that
I don't think SQL would be a bad choice, in my opinion, but I can do both. Not hard at all.
What other choices are there? I think it would be best for there to be a portable database file that just sits with the software like the log file
>>9
For a modest fee I'll write a custom textboard that does everything you want it to do. Per-thread atom feeds, better moderation tools, sticky threads, system to allow users to register custom capcodes, etc.
It should be really easy to parse the Kareha thread HTML files and spit out per-thread RSS files that update when threads update, as well as generate a feed of all new replies, similar to what I did with multichan, iyagi, and pohon.
I mean, technically speaking, a Postgre or MariaDB database are both portable, but I get what you mean. I've got my personal preferences that aren't fulfilled by Apache normally.
Is PHP okay or would you prefer the rewrite to be written in Perl?
Perl. PHP is for MIT grads
Looking at Kareha's code, I feel like Perl is MIT's preferred language, but very well.
Characteristics:
The only forced-anon board I know left is /iaa/ @ 4-ch and neither there nor /lounge/ here really capture the older BBS vibe yet, i.e. from 2004-2014 era. A proper /vip/ board could do a lot of good for the community. I think people desperate for the older era of BBSes are winding up on 6channel lately, but let's be real, the Sageru BBS days are more or less over.
I know of the already existing secret VIP board but it's not very useful.
If we only aspired to capture an "old bbs vibe", then we would just be roleplayers, no?
>>2
so if you're not trying to capture "old bbs vibe" by running kareha on world2ch.net ... what are you trying to do here? What's going in in /saovq/ if that's not roleplaying? There are hundreds of other general discussion messageboards , whether 2ch-like or otherwise... what sets your community apart from heyuri or 4-ch aside from the domain name?
Your question is presenting a false dichotomy. People don't have to be "roleplayers" to post on textboards and they don't have to be "roleplaying" to enjoy participating in textboard culture.
You didn't answer my post at all btw. It would be nice if you engaged with people's posts in good faith. I know you'll probably delete my posts again, insult me or throw false accusations at me again, or deny being the admin again, but I am engaging in good faith and it would be encouraging to see you do the same.
>I know you'll probably delete my posts again, insult me or throw false accusations at me again, or deny being the admin again, but I am engaging in good faith and it would be encouraging to see you do the same.
woe, woe is me. The poor persecuted archduke
I guess we are separated by quality and good discussion. The only thing 4-ch has to show is DQN(Who can't compare themselves to VIP quality), which has long been in decline, the other is a site of tweens role playing.
Neither of those provide good discussion.
I think it would be good to continue working on improving lounge quality first until making a new board.
> People don't have to be "roleplayers" to post on textboards and they don't have to be "roleplaying" to enjoy participating in textboard culture.
Most of the time when you see sites say that it's trying to capture an "old era" or something similar, it is generally a lot of kiddos who have no clue what their trying to emulate.
I don't want it to be a mission to appease some dogma about the past because it will typically attract the wrong crowd.
World2ch should just be for quality discussion and quality posts.
Holy shit your kareha is so fast!
So godlightspeedfast! It's incredible! Runnin in the 90's
waw
It will be nice if your backend will dynamically generate, serve & provide selection of few html+css web pages, with different backgrounds & colors. Without requiring js.
That's all I ask San-ta.
Some times I trip off I think I browse here the future
Some times I think I browse here HTML3+Web3
Faster than light, our posts make time go backwards
this world2ch.net bends time continium !
I was expecting you to change (year) timedate format to 1995/05/20
then we would be a telnet bbs
How did you guys get kareha set up?
the kareha has a lot of things altered
It's fast only because the thread and post count is small. Part of why the thread count is small is because the admin has a tiny penis and deletes posts to make himself feel like a big man
As the admin I can confirm this is true
dd a new board similar to livejupiter, but dedicated to shitposting—with a clever name, not something literal like 'shitpost' or '/b/'. Also, it would be nice to add a board for discussing games and technology
/PENIS/
When we get a good number of users, new boards will be added, I'm also not sure what you're requesting
/meat/
Still waiting for the proper circumstances
